Lansoprazole is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux) and peptic ulcer disease.
How Lansoprazole works
Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.

Uses of Lansoprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets:
- It is used to treat or prevent GI (gastrointestinal) ulcers caused by infection.
- It is used to treat or prevent NSAID-associated gastric ulcers in patients with a history of ulcers.
- It is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD; acid reflux).
- It is used to treat heartburn.
- It is used to treat syndromes caused by excess stomach acid.
- It is used to treat or prevent ulcers of the swallowing tube (esophagus).
- It is used for various other purposes. Consult your doctor.
Direction to use Lansoprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets
Use this medicine (lansoprazole orally disintegrating tablets) as pescribed by the Doctor. Read the information carefully before use. Follow the instructions for the best result.
- Medicine should be taken before meals.
- Complete the course of medicine as directed by your doctor even if you feel better.
- If you take sucralfate, take this medicine 30 minutes before taking sucralfate.
- Place on your tongue and let it dissolve. Water is not needed. Do not swallow it whole. Do not chew, break, or crush it.
- You may also dissolve the tablet in an oral syringe with water. Place the tablet in an oral syringe. For 15 mg tablets, draw up 4 ml of water. For 30 mg tablets, draw up 10 mL of water. Shake gently until the tablet dissolves. Take within 15 minutes of mixing. After taking, refill the syringe with 2 mL of water for 15 mg tablet or 5 mL of water for 30 mg tablet. Shake gently and swallow.
- Those who have feeding tubes may use Lansoprazole. Use as you have been told. Flush the feeding tube after this medicine (lansoprazole orally disintegrating tablets) is given.
